ONRI
The ON Research Institute – ONRI
The ON Research Institute, a Think-tank within OPUS NOVUM, is retaining and growing a council of top-tier scientists, engineers, and other thought leaders, who are closely collaborating around the ONRI research focus areas, sharing and combining resources, and acting as advisors to OPUS NOVUM Foundation. Being a central part of OPUS NOVUM they have access to the ON Realm and may include Fellows into their projects and initiatives.
Resources for ONRI’s research are comprised of competed and unsolicited (government and nonprofit organizations) as well as private sources to continue scientifically meritorious projects in times of political changes. In their advisor roles, they may suggest future areas of global importance towards which awareness should be raised and more research shall be conducted.
ONRI Focus Areas
ONRI’s research focus areas are decided by the ONRI researchers, a process dependent on the world’s most pressing challenges at the time, and supported by the Board of Trustees. Once determined, OPUS NOVUM Foundation supports ONRI’s focus areas with discretionary resources available through the ON Realm as well as provides guidance during the establishment process of new strategic collaborations including its legal team for arrangement of any necessary contractual vehicles.
The current ONRI focus areas include:
- Aerospace Research: Small Spacecrafts, Control Systems, Unconventional propopulsion systems
- Exploration Technologies: Robotics & Autonomous Systems, Mobility Systems, Communication & Navigation, Sustainable Technologies, ISRU, Space Sciences, Science Instruments & Systems, EDL, Advanced Materials & Structures, Information Technology
- Earth Sciences: Oceans, Climate, and Earthquake Research
- Life Sciences: Synthetic Biology, Regenerative Medicine
